NOVEMBER 2019

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR SCOTT

Church Family,

The above salutation seems appropriate given our recent sermon series, All the Saints.  We are a family; God has given us each other!  He has called us, set us apart and sent us out to display and declare His glory.  What a privilege and what an opportunity we have!

I have loved hearing from other pastors and ministry leaders around our city, reminding us that we are part of something much bigger than The Journey.  We are a part of THE church, that spans all times and all locations.  And in addition, we are a part of this church, the local expression called The Journey West County.

As we have been learning more about what it means to be His body, we have seen that the body functions best when every part is engaged.  All of us have a next step that will take us deeper into community & give us a greater sense of belonging.  We have talked about membership, serving and being in community with one another as three things, among others, that help bring us together as a church family.  I don't know what your next step is, but would you prayerfully consider what the Lord might be moving you toward?

If you want to learn more about joining a serving team, a community group, or exploring membership, we would love to talk further.  And we have two opportunities, Open Table and Affordable Christmas, happening in November and December that will give our church family a chance to serve and embody love to one another.  Please don't miss out on what God might have for you, and for our church, as you take your next step.

I am so grateful for each of you and wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving later this month!

Pastor Scott

The Peace God Gives

Happy November Journey family!

Fall is a season that goes by quickly. No sooner have summer vacations and activities ended, than school resumes, schedules fill up, and the holidays swiftly approach.

We shared with you in September an update on our senior pastor search and Curtis’ candidacy for this role. While there is continued progress being made in the interview process with Curtis, there is not much new to share about the search at this time. We ask that you please continue to pray for Curtis and the team – and it is our hope to provide an update to you in the next few weeks.

For a long time, it’s been a conviction of the Board of Elders to communicate more consistently with local churches. What we recognize is that the majority of our communications to you focus on more formal updates about the life of our church. It is our desire, at other times, to have the opportunity to share with you what God is putting on our hearts as a means of encouragement to you. Continue reading

UPCOMING EVENTS & UPDATES

Open Table is an opportunity to embody love and demonstrate hospitality within our church family and community. It allows both hosts and guests to connect over a holiday meal, encourages a continued mindset of open tables and open hearts, and is a way to faithfully live out being the family of God in obedience to our Savior, who commands us to embody love to those within the body of Christ and those outside the church.

We want you to know that no matter who you are or what season of life you are in, you have something to bring to the table and will be a blessing to those around you!

Learn more or register to host or join a table on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day!
