JANUARY 2020

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR SCOTT

Dear West County Family,

I hope you, your family, and friends enjoyed a wonderful Christmas!

Our Advent series this past month, "He Stepped In," has reminded us that God comes to us and steps into the painful and broken parts of our lives and brings us hope and healing. My prayer for you, as we’ve come to the close of this series, is that you have tangibly experienced the love, joy, peace, and hope that Advent reminds us Jesus offers! On Sunday, January 5, we will be having a story Sunday during both services. We hope that many of you will be willing to share a brief story of how you have seen Jesus step in during this season!

I also want to thank you for the ways you stepped in throughout this season – following along with us in our Advent devotional, sharing a meal with church family and friends through Open Table, and giving to the needs of others through A Gift for Our City. I was incredibly encouraged by the way you stepped in during Affordable Christmas! Over 130 of you volunteered, even more brought gifts, and as a result, we were able to bless families in our church and community in a season of need. Thank you!

As we anticipate a new year, I want us to consider how we can look beyond this Advent season by continuing to be a people and a church that step into places of need in our community through how we engage, serve, and give.

But in order for us to grow in these ways, we must first begin by posturing our hearts in prayer before God. As we enter into January, we are going to place an emphasis on prayer and learning what it means to trust the Lord in every area of our lives. I want to invite you to join me in praying that God would cultivate a culture of prayer at The Journey and that West County would be a church that recognizes our deep need for Jesus.

It is a blessing to serve alongside each of you. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in the New Year!

In Christ,
Pastor Scott

THANK YOU FOR GIVING TO OUR CITY!

Journey family! I’m incredibly grateful for your heart and generosity expressed on Christmas Eve. Together, we were able to give $96,285 away to organizations across our neighborhoods and communities that are committed to bringing restoration to St. Louis. Thank you for stepping in on behalf of our city!

Know that each and every gift – regardless of the size – is deeply appreciated. We know that any gift, any step toward generosity, is an opportunity for the Lord to grow our faith and to use what we have given to bring hope and healing to those in need. My prayer is that the ways you have expressed generosity this season will have sparked in you a joy that comes from experiencing partnership with our God in the ways He uses your resources, hands, and hearts to transform the lives of others.

May we continue to be reminded as we enter 2020 of the goodness, kindness, and generosity of our God and persist in faithfulness as we respond to Him by taking more steps of love, sacrifice, and generosity in the year ahead.
