Hello Tower Grove Family!
What an amazing time we had together at The Journey’s One Church Worship Night this past weekend! It was a great opportunity for us to enjoy God together in the singing of songs and prayer. And it was amazing to see the embodying of Christ’s love take place as attenders and members from different Journey locations came together as One Church.
Experiencing closeness and fellowship with God’s people reminds us that we have closeness and fellowship with God Himself. We gather as a family each week and at special events to celebrate that He has drawn us into relationship with Himself and with one another. Our Savior King is about bringing people together into His kingdom.
So, we want to keep being a church that comes together! And on Friday, October 12, from 5:30-8 p.m., we will be hosting a Chili Cook-off at Tower Grove to get to know some new friends and connect with your church family. Sign up to bring a pot of chili, a side, or dessert. Or sign up to help with setup or cleanup. It will be a great night of fellowship!
I am confident that this year, our church family will be more closely knit in heart and life so that by our love the world will know Jesus Christ as Lord! Let us pray that we will see a resurgence of the Acts 2 church in our church and city. “And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved." (Acts 2:46-47).

We believe the Bible clearly communicates baptism as a vital step of discipleship and obedience to Christ. The sacrament is a symbol of the washing away of the old self and commitment in front of fellow believers that you have been made new by Jesus and are committed to following Him.

In October, we’ll be celebrating baptism as one church at all our Journey locations. Learn more and register on our website!

Hi, my name is Bob Myers. I have been growing in faith with The Journey for about two years.

My beautiful sister, Linda, and I were on a spiritual journey when she suggested we try out The Journey Tower Grove. She convinced me to come to a Sunday service and in response to the newcomer card I had filled out, Pastor of Care and Counseling Eric Gregory reached out to me for a meeting. I now know that the Holy Spirit orchestrated that meeting.

Eric knew exactly what was troubling me. He gave me two books, Mere Christianity and Proper Confidence. I will never forget the joy that welled up inside of me as I devoured these books.

They helped me overcome my objections, fears, and doubts. They made me thirst for more. Eric and I continued to meet, and I am forever grateful for his gentle guidance and the many blessings that have followed.

I was a Technical Project Manager for many years, so I am a planner. I think in terms of goals, tasks, timelines, progress, and communication. Believe it or not, God has led me to find ways to put my professional training to work for The Journey.

My path to service began with the men’s ministry Bible study. During the study of Daniel, I was assigned to a table with Steve Brooks. Steve is an energetic Christian, who is genuinely inspired by Paul’s direction to Timothy – “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” Steve took me under his wing. We began meeting weekly, and our friendship grew. I came to find that Steve was the lay leader for The Journey Tower Grove's men’s ministry and that the ministry could benefit from some administrative assistance for planning and preparing for the next Bible study. That was it! That was how I could contribute.

Volunteering with the men’s ministry has been a wonderful blessing. In addition to learning from gifted theologians like Steve, John Chung, Stephen Hess, and fellow participants, I was introduced to other resources like R.C. Sproul, Ravi Zacharias, and Alistair Beggs.

One of the amazing things about the men’s ministry is the fellowship and bond that come from studying, discussing, and relating holy Scripture with like-minded Christian men.

I also met Joe Gallaher through the men’s ministry. Joe’s passion for God is contagious. Joe invited me to a prayer meeting. I was amazed and uplifted by this small group of exuberant Christians but disappointed to find that it was unclear when and where the group would meet next.

Once again, the Holy Spirit lifted us up. We held a meeting to plan how we could put a small amount of structure around the prayer group and get recognition as an official Journey Tower Grove ministry. As a result, the Prayer Group is now meeting every Monday and Thursday evening for corporate prayer, and attendance is growing.

We are moving into the next phase of our plan, which is to raise awareness of our Prayer Group. So watch for that, or better yet, come pray with us!
