As a very young child I remember thinking I needed to decide my future and learn all I could about my purpose in life. I was a fairly intense kid. I have remnants from those times stashed in boxes in our basement. Toy lizards from when I wanted to be a herpetologist in the second grade, a telescope from when I wanted to be an astronomer in the fourth grade, my guitar and notebooks of songs when I swore I was going to be folk singer in Jr. high, among other things. I immersed myself in whatever it was. At the heart of all of this searching, however, I believe I simply longed to be defined by something. The Restore Network invites you to join us at one of our monthly Foster & Adopt 101 workshops designed to provide basic information to individuals interested in learning more about foster care and adoption. During the workshop, you will learn more about the needs that exist within the foster care system and the vision behind the Restore Network's community and church partnerships.

By the end of the workshop, you will learn about the licensing process to become a foster or adoptive family and what supports the Restore Network can offer you. In addition, you will learn all the ways you can volunteer and use your gifts on one of our support teams.

These workshops are held monthly in each of our county locations. Feel free to join us at whichever location best fits your schedule. We hope to see you there!

Partner Organization Spotlight:

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois’s “Re-entry Services for Returning Citizens” is a holistic, multi-faceted statewide program that supports a returning citizen’s transition back into the community. Re-entry Services connect returning citizens to needed supportive services and reduces barriers that prevent successful reintegration. All of the core components are designed to provide transitioning individuals with job knowledge and experience, a support system, and a stable life.
LSSI’s Re-entry Services takes into account all of the individualized needs that a person re-integrating into the community may need in order to be successful in their transition. A holistic approach encompasses the following areas which are vital for re-entry success: employment, housing, stabilization, social networks, and structure. Re-entry Specialists explore up to 21 areas of need with the returning citizen to create an individualized plan to meet their transitional goals.

On Friday December 22 at 11:30am we will partner with LSSI to host a Christmas Party for the families of the Prisoner & Family Ministry, be looking for more information soon to learn how you can get involved!
