A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR JASON

South County Family,

As we move towards the end of our ministry and fiscal year, it is worth reflecting and celebrating the wonderful ways that God is working in and through this church to see our city awakened to and transformed by the love of Jesus. Across all Journey locations this past ministry year, we celebrate together as One Church:

  • Over 200 new members
  • 37 baptisms
  • 48 members sent on international missions
  • Over 600 kids weekly in Journey Kids
  • More than 3,800 counseling sessions at Karis House
  • Over 1,500 people involved in community groups
  • And over 3,100 people attending weekend services weekly across our locations

At South County, this has been made possible through countless volunteer hours and the opportunity to support missional and communal ministries such as Campus Outreach, Urban K-Life, The Covering House, and Mission St. Louis. As One Church, we have sought to live out our mission to Enjoy Grace, Embody Love, and Engage Culture. Your presence, service, giving, love, and participation in that mission has been a beautiful mark of your discipleship and following after Jesus.

We know that the Lord has great plans for The Journey, and we are excited to see what He has in store for us next year as we continue to come together as One Church to move the mission forward. Your year-end gift allows us to end this fiscal year well and start next year strong as we aspire together to see our city awakened to and transformed by the love of Jesus.

Our prayers and plans include:

  • Equipping and sending more church members on local and international missions
  • Partnering with other ministries and organizations in St. Louis
  • Investing in our next generation through Journey Kids and Journey Students
  • Engaging the members of our church more intentionally so that we can truly be a body together

Through your prayers and generosity, together, we can continue to move our mission forward. If you have not given before, would you join us by giving for the first time? If you do not give regularly, would you consider joining us in our continuing efforts through recurring giving? And, if you are giving consistently, would you prayerfully consider giving above and beyond your normal giving with a generous fiscal year-end gift by tomorrow, June 30? To give go to thejourney.org/give

I am looking forward to the new ministry year together!

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jason

WHAT WILL IT PROFIT A MAN? SUMMER SERMON

FAMILY SUNDAYS IN JULY
On Sunday, July 1, and Sunday, July 29, (to coincide with our Picnic in the Park), we are having two Family Sundays. We will only have Journey Kids available for infants through toddler-aged children. Our hope is that Family Sundays will provide opportunities for children to see adults worship together, offer rest for our Journey Kids volunteers, and allow children to learn the rhythms of church life. We will also have kid-friendly materials available for your children during the worship service.

JOURNEY KIDS OPENINGS
Serving in Journey Kids is more than supervising children during the Sunday morning service time. It’s an opportunity to instill and cultivate the gospel in the next generation. It’s a chance to shape the hearts and minds of our youngest attenders with the truth of Jesus. Would you consider joining our team of incredible volunteers?

Job Description of a Journey Kids Team Member
The heart of Journey Kids is to partner with parents and families as they disciple their children to follow Jesus. We seek to engage children in gospel-centered learning, cultivating their love for God’s word and walking alongside them each week, as they grow to treasure Jesus above all else.

Our volunteers create a safe, caring, and fun environment for our Journey kids to be known and belong, as we learn about Jesus together.

Open Volunteer Positions
Toddler Room Leaders and Team Members: we are in need of 4-6 people to serve in this room with our 1.5-3.5 year olds where they learn simple biblical truths and spend time playing with other children.

Elementary Room Leaders and Team Members: we are in need of 4-6 people to serve in these rooms with our K-5th grade children where they are taught gospel truths from God's word through lessons and fun activities.

FILL THE VAN WITH PURPOSE

The Affton Christian Food Pantry(ACFP) serves as a continuous and reliable source of food for families residing in the 63123 area.  Currently, approximately 230 area families rely on the pantry to help put food on their tables. A good portion of this food comes from donations from the 16 Affton churches that oversee the Pantry’s operations. Our church is one of those 16 churches.

The Pantry is asking for our help this summer. On Sunday, July 15, the Pantry will have its van parked on our parking lot during services with its doors open and collecting for its 2018 Fill the Van With a Purpose campaign. While all donations are gladly accepted, this year’s goal is to help the pantry build up its inventory of dry goods: i.e. rice, dry pasta, mac and cheese, sugar, flour, Jello, cereal, dry beans, toilet paper, meal supplements, etc. Bring your donations to church the next few weeks and drop them off at the collection area in the lobby!

THIRD THURSDAY WORSHIP WORKSHOP | VOCALS

Do you love to sing? Do you want to grow as a singer and connect with others that share your passion for praising God with your voice? Join us on the third Thursday of July (July 19) at 7 p.m. for this month's Worship Workshop, where we’ll spend the evening talking about developing and growing our voice, techniques for singing and leading with others, and, of course, we’ll sing some songs together! If you’d like to know more about this or any other Worship Workshop, email Corbin Petersen.

SERVING OPPORTUNITY

Would you like to pray alongside others for the needs of the church?

We are starting a new prayer group, and we'd like to invite you to be a part! If you'd like to join and receive regular prayer requests, please email Laura, and she'll add you to the group.

LANDSCAPING TEAM

Since we've moved into our building, Greg and Tracie Minner have been mowing our grass and taking care of our lawn needs. We'd like to start a landscaping team to help with the rest of our landscaping (flower beds, etc.) and have someone specifically to help lead and organize this team. If you're interested in joining our landscaping team please contact Laura Lane

one gift at a time
The story of The Journey has been one of God using His people over and over again to provide, and we are asking you to prayerfully consider giving above and beyond your normal giving with a generous fiscal year end gift by tomorrow, June 30. Partner with us today!
