A Message from Pastor Jason

South County Family,

A lot is happening at our church and I'm grateful to serve alongside you each week. Please take a moment to watch the video above, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday!

Pastor Jason

Child Dedication is a special time for parents and guardians to publicly announce their intention to raise their child(ren) to love God and to love others. We as a church family commit to supporting parents through encouragement, equipping, prayer, and ministries like Journey Kids and Journey Students by coming alongside parents to raise the next generation to love God.

You can register below for the next Child Dedication on Sunday, February 11, during the 10am service. Please send a photo of your child to llane@thejourney.org by February 8.

"He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments..." (Psalm 78:5-7 ESV)

We'll be having an informational lunch with members of The Journey International team to share more about our mission to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ and upcoming short-term mission trips in 2018. We will go over details such as cost, dates, and trip content for each trip, as well as general deadlines and info required to be involved in any of our summer trips.

We will meet in the commons area after church services on February 25th from noon - 1pm. Lunch and limited childcare will be offered (pre-school and under) by RSVP only, so be sure to register the whole family by Feb. 22nd!

Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a time of preparation and repentance during which we anticipate the death and resurrection of Jesus. Though we will not be holding a service here at South County, we encourage you to head over to one of our other locations. Visit our website for service times.

Affton Christian Food Pantry

As you know we've partnered with the Affton Christian Food Pantry. If you'd like to volunteer with their organization or would like more information you can reach out to Dale Miesner or fill out the volunteer application at the ACFP's website.

Upcoming events and needs at ACFP:

  • Facility Tour — On Wednesday, February 21 at 7pm we'll be able to tour the ACFP and see their operations and how we'll get to be involved: 4960 Heege Road, Affton, MO 63123.
  • Food Process Day — On Friday, February 9 from 9am to 2pm the ACFP will be organizing their food pantry storage and could use some help. Email Dana for more information.
  • Panera Pick-up — The ACFP is looking for volunteers who are able to pick up bread donations from the Grasso Plaza Panera/Bread Co. on Monday nights before they close at 9pm and then make sure the bread gets delivered to the ACFP

Help A South County Family Move!

We also wanted to remind you all that we have a family from our church moving at 10am on Saturday, February 3! They need help moving their larger items (furniture, etc.) from one home to their new home, and loading and unloading from a moving truck. They'd love any help they can get, whether it's for just a little while or the entire time. This is a great opportunity to embody love and serve this family. If you're able to help or would like more information please send an email to Laura Lane.
