As I reflect on the month of September I can't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude toward the Lord for this church. I resonate with the Apostle Paul when he states, “I thank my God in my all my remembrance of you”
-Philippians 1:3. So as I sit and reflect, I also wanted to remind you of some of the things the Lord did in and through us during the month of September so that you might give thanks, too.

Journey Kids
One of the unique dynamics of Metro East is that nearly one-third of our weekly attenders are children in our Journey Kids ministry. I know that the Lord is delighted that these children are a significant part of this church and that it pleases him that they are being rooted in Gospel truths early. But to love 100 children each week in this way is no small task!

As you may remember, we needed nearly 30 volunteers to keep classrooms open for the sake of the next generation. Graciously, many of you responded to the call from the Lord to serve these little ones. So because of that, we are able to keep our classrooms open this month, and while we still have a few gaps, we are moving toward a spot of stability in terms of volunteer numbers.

One Church Worship Night
Last Sunday, we gathered with the Journey family from our four other St. Louis locations at The Journey Hanley Road to celebrate as One Church. It was an incredible evening of community, joy, and worship - and a beautiful picture of our people coming together to enjoy God's grace and embody His love to one another. It was great to see so many Metro East members and attenders brave the traffic and river and come worship as One Church. This was by far the biggest One Church Worship Night we've had!

Restore Block Party
This past Friday nearly 200 people filled every corner of our church for a Block Party. Thanks to your generous donations of time and money we were able to give away over 90 new jackets to the Restore Families from St. Clair County. This was such a great way to practically love these families as we seek not only to welcome and invite them to our church but to also help meet their needs.

Thank you once again for all the ways you served the Lord and loved his church this month.

We believe the Bible clearly communicates baptism as a vital step of discipleship and obedience to Christ. The sacrament is a symbol of the washing away of the old self and commitment in front of fellow believers that you have been made new by Jesus and are committed to following him.

Our next baptisms are on October 14th. Please attend this class during the second service TOMORROW October 7th. The class will give you a better understanding of what baptism is and help you identify if baptism is the next best step in your discipleship process.

Join us for our all-church prayer this Sunday, October 7th, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. This is an informal event where we pray for personal, church, and global things going on in the world around us. Kids are welcome to participate!

Our mission is to partner with your family to help your children love God more today than they did yesterday, be discipled in the love and truth of Jesus, and to trust Jesus with their today, tomorrow, and eternity.

We are passionate about walking alongside your family and believe that everyone needs a safe place to belong where they can discover more about the hope that Jesus offers. Join us every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Do you desire to become a member at The Journey Metro East and join in the vision of spreading the gospel to our city and the world? We are having our next round of membership class. If you are interested make plans to attend the membership classes on Sunday mornings starting Sunday October 21-November 18th during the 11am service in the multipurpose room.

Over the past year, we have seen a pretty significant increase in the number of children in our counties coming into foster care. We haven’t pinpointed a reason for this increase, we just know by looking at the numbers and in conversations with our agency partners, that it is happening. The simple fact is that we used to have many foster families with openings in their homes but with the rise in placements, these openings are no longer there for new kids who need us. And they still need us.

We have always believed that God is raising up a new generation of foster parents within the Church and we need them NOW.

Therefore, on Saturday, October 13th at 6pm, our partner ministry the Restore Network will be hosting our first recruitment banquet. The event will include dinner and a conversation by a panel of Restore Network staff and foster parents who will together face the clear call of scripture, challenge the barriers we put in place that keep us from saying “yes,” and collectively call ourselves to stand up for children in foster care by opening our homes.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a foster parent, have questions about whether it’s right for your family, or just want to learn more, we encourage you to attend this free dinner! The last day to register is October 8th.

Check out the October song of the month!
Parents! We wanted to give you a heads up that we will be doing our Family Sunday THIS WEEKEND October 7. As a reminder, kids 3 years and up will be joining you in service that Sunday.
