Hello Everyone,

I love our church! A conference call amongst some of our staff and lay leaders on the afternoon of Friday, 9/15, resulted in a decision for our five local Journey churches to worship together under one roof at Westminster Christian Academy — within 36 hours! I was inspired as our staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to communicate, plan and execute changing services and venues for thousands of worshippers.

Fox2now St. Louis reported the story, which aired on local stations.

We pray for healing, peace, reconciliation, justice and mercy — and that we as Christ Followers may be agents of change in our neighborhoods and city. Please spend a few minutes reading Isaiah 59:14-17, which is a picture depicting the hardness of mankind rejecting justice and righteousness and God’s response — He himself bringing salvation through a Redeemer. The beauty of the Gospel in four verses.

We are entering a season of change. Yes, the beloved Autumn has begun and so have our efforts to fulfill the “replanting” of our church as we move north to the Kol Rinah building at 829 North Hanley Road.

We believe that God, the Master Gardener, in his wonderful providence has seen fit to transplant, or replant, the Journey Hanley Road to a new vineyard — a vineyard known as University City. We are on a mission to enjoy his grace, embody his love and engage our culture with truth and healing. There are forums, volunteer workdays, building vision tours and more, much more, planned in the twelve weeks.

I invite you to strive together, serve together and pray together to God, that he will fulfill our every resolve for good and every work done in faith through his own power for his own glory and for our joy. None of our labor done in faith… is in vain.

Pastor Rusty

Ministry Fair

Last Sunday we hosted our first ever Ministry Showcase and even we were amazed that there are over 20 active ministries at Hanley Road right now. Representatives from all those ministries were available to cast vision, answer questions, and register new members and volunteers.

Baptism

We will be holding our next baptisms on October 28th, Reformation Sunday. This particular Reformation Sunday is special because it will mark the 500th Anniversary of the posting of the 95 Theses (yes, we know the 31st is the actual date, but this is the closest Sunday).

If you have accepted Jesus as your savior but not yet been baptized, what hinders you? If you have questions or want to register, please email infohr@thejourney.org

Raising our Jewish Cultural IQ

You are invited to an unusual meeting! We have invited a guest speaker (who is Jewish-Christian) and a long-time resident of St. Louis joining us to share his story and help educate us on our Jewish cultural understanding.

Wednesday, Sept. 27 | 7:00-8:30pm
The Journey Hanley Road
(in the Sanctuary)

Please be there and bring a few friends as we venture a little deeper into the rarest of opportunities as we “replant our church and move north.”
