Dear Tower Grove Family,

In July 2019, our church made a significant change to the worship service times at Tower Grove. We had hoped to better distribute attendance between our services and at Journey Kids. Simply put, it did not work as we had hoped. And so, we went back to the drawing board and spent much time hearing from members of our church location. Through our collective wisdom, we believe we have found a better solution that grows Tower Grove’s ability to live out the vision and mission of The Journey and accommodate the needs of the church.

Therefore, starting the weekend of February 29-March 1, 2020, we will be making the following changes to the service times at The Journey Tower Grove:

  • Saturday night services will close. The final Saturday evening service will be on February 22, 2020.
  • New Sunday service times will be at 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

We believe that these times will help have a better distribution of worshippers in the sanctuary and Journey Kids. In addition, we believe these changes will help us connect more closely as one church, create space for fellowship, and allow serving teams to connect, plan, and pray.

We recognize that change can be challenging and, initially, raise levels of discomfort. We also recognize that change does not necessarily guarantee the outcomes we hope for. Yet, we are learners in this together. I ask for your partnership and patience as we seek to grow as a church in how we enjoy grace, embody love, and engage culture. If you’d like more details about the driving factors for these changes and how decisions were made, you can find a FAQ here

Thank you for being an active part in bringing change to our church so that together, as The Journey Tower Grove, we can exist to see our city awakened and transformed by the love of Jesus!

In Christ,
Pastor John

Black History Month

As we enter into this month, our desire is to Remind ourselves by learning about the past, considering its meaning, and reflecting on its impact; to Rejoice through celebration, honor, and worship; and to Respond by asking ourselves how what we now know should inform our choices today and tomorrow. Visit our website for specific ways to learn, celebrate, and engage with us!

Greetings from The Journey Board! We wish everyone a very happy, healthy 2020.
We have launched a new webpage that the Board hopes will provide better communication to all our Journey churches. You can find it here. We will post communications and other items of interest on the page as needed. We will also provide an archive of our older communications and board minutes.

Our goal in doing this is to better communicate with you and provide as much ongoing information and transparency to our congregations as possible.

Grace and peace,

Young Life Prayer Requests:

  • Our city. You have placed us in a beautiful, complex, and messy city. God, we ask that You bless the leaders of St. Louis, give them wisdom and insight as they make decisions on behalf of so many. We ask that You fill St. Louis leaders, school administrators, staff, and teachers with compassion and a fierce sense of protection for St. Louis youth. Make St. Louis a place where youth are treasured, valued, loved, protected, and provided for. Help us to dream BIG for what You have for them – not just that they stay out of trouble or survive, but that they live fully into their giftedness from You.
  • Our Students. We ask that you draw these students to Yourself, that they know their value and identity as Your children. God, protect them physically, emotionally, and mentally as they navigate life as teenagers. We ask that You continue to bring new students into our path, that we can serve and love them in Your name.
  • Our Leaders. God, we ask that You strengthen and sustain the leaders You have so graciously provided us with. Bless their relationships with students and grant them wisdom and grace in the year ahead. Lord, please provide the leaders we need to serve the students You have put in our midst. Give us eyes to see the adults You are calling to this ministry.
  • Our Finances. Your financial provision for our area is humbling and we thank You for ALL You have blessed us with. Thank You for our monthly giving campaign, for the generous donor providing the match and for the individuals who have taken on the challenge to give monthly. We ask for Your continued provision as we prepare for the coming year. Lord, we ask that our supporters experience joy, connection, encouragement through their investment in this ministry.
  • Our Staff and Board. Thank you for the talented staff You have put in our area. We praise You for how clearly You have gifted them to be your hands and feet. Sustain them Lord, give them patience, diligence, focus, and joy in their work. We ask that you allow them to see fruit from the hard work that they do.
  • YoungLives. What a blessing that we get to serve young moms in our city and walk with them through a season of life that is so beautiful and mess, joyful and stressful all at the same time. Thank You for the donor who recently provided iPads for two of our moms so they can finish their GEDs. We ask for Your hand of protection over the moms who will deliver babies in the coming year, especially Jayda who is due January 22nd. Grant them smooth deliveries and quick healing.

Mission St. Louis - JLT Winter Meals Program
We are embarking on our 2020 Winter Session of the Job & Leadership Training program and are looking for meals to feed our students and volunteers. The JLT program consists of 8 weeks of weekly classes, mentorship and internships. During classes, students learn professional development, job skills, financial literacy as well lessons on manhood and character building. Students also receive a vast array of community resources and intern at local businesses which (pending performance) turn into livable, wage-permanent positions after graduation. Every day they are with us, we feed them: Monday and Thursday we provide them with dinner and on Wednesday mornings we provide them with breakfast.
