A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR JOHN
Advent is the time in the Church calendar when Christians focus on the coming of Jesus. Advent comes from a Latin word meaning “coming” or “arrival.” And in the Advent season, Christians both look back at Jesus’ first coming in His humble birth and look forward to His second coming in powerful victory. With each of Jesus’ comings, Jesus makes a difference that blesses the world.

This season, we want to be a church that experiences how Jesus’ coming truly makes a difference. We can do this by giving generously beyond the walls of our church to meet the needs of our city. That is why I am inviting you to join us in A Gift For Our City. At each of our Christmas Eve services, we will be taking a special offering where 100% of what you give will go out to places of need in this area. You can learn more about these needs and how your giving can help by visiting our website.

As you look at the needs and pray for those in our city, let’s be moved to generosity to show others that Jesus has come and will come and that His coming makes all the difference! May it be our prayer that our generosity help restore dignity, peace, security, joy of relationship, and hope.

Happy Advent and Merry Christmas, Journey family!

Pastor John Chung

Step into this Advent season with us through a 24-day devotional resource we’ve created for individuals and families! It’s a companion guide to our Advent sermon series, “He Stepped In,” including daily readings, stories, devotions, worship songs and more. Over the next few weeks, we invite you to go deeper with us as we consider the hope and healing available to us because of Jesus’ birth and presence. You can also access the devotional on The Journey St. Louis app!

Open Table is an opportunity to embody love and demonstrate hospitality within our church family and community. It allows both hosts and guests to connect over a holiday meal, encourages a continued mindset of open tables and open hearts, and is a way to faithfully live out being the family of God in obedience to our Savior, who commands us to embody love to those within the body of Christ and those outside the church.

We want you to know that no matter who you are or what season of life you are in, you have something to bring to the table and will be a blessing to those around you!

Learn more and register now to be part of Open Table on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day.
