Neighborhoods to Nations

Our heart at The Journey Hanley Road is to make Christ’s name known and what better place to start than our own neighborhood! We believe that Jesus loves University City and wants to see this place transformed for His glory. We also believe that Christ calls His followers to take the gospel around the globe to all nations and so we enter into the mission of God to spread the gospel abroad.

What is unique about University City?

University City is an incredibly vibrant and diverse city, made up of people from all walks of life, various socioeconomic, educational, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Due to the influence of Washington University, it is a city where the exchange of artistic and intellectual expression is constant. U-City is a cool place to do ministry!
I want to love, learn, and serve this neighborhood. Where should I start?

We have several community partnerships with organizations in the community:
  • The School District of University City, partnering with University City High School and Pershing Elementary to serve the students of both schools.
  • Grace and Peace Women's Shelter.
Participating with these initiatives will give you a glimpse into the life of U-City. We are also always open to new ideas! If you have a vision for reaching our neighbors, we would love to hear about it!

Also, if you want to experience the culture of U-City, you can always just visit the Loop or stop by the library and grab one of the documentaries on the history of U-City.

You can learn more about U-City at exploreucity.com.
I have a heart for the nations. Where should I start?

A great place to start is to get to know some of our members who are preparing to go overseas. Grab coffee with them and hear their story of how God has called them to go to an unreached people group.

To set that up or to learn more about international missions at Hanley Road email Krystle Roberts. She would love to talk to you about what we are doing and how you can be involved.
