HR | Theology at the Bottleworks -October 2019

Wednesday, October 16, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Theology at the Bottleworks is a monthly public discussion that takes up the most important issues of our times among an amazing diversity of interesting people. It meets at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. Join the conversation this month as we discuss: The What, Why, and How of America's Opioid Crisis.

America's rate of opioid-related deaths has been rising since the 1990s; on an average day, 130 Americans die by opioid overdose.  In what ways has the narrative surrounding the opioid crisis been similar or different from that of other drugs in America?  What is causing this crisis, and who bears responsibility for it? How should the country, and we as individuals, move forward to both save lives in the near term and address the root issues causing opioid addiction in the long term? Come have a brew, share your view, and lend an ear to others.'
