Basic Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Director of Journey Students is to oversee junior high and senior high students, helping them to grow in their love and knowledge of the Lord, and helping them discover and use their God-given gifts in a lifetime of ministry. This position will serve as a spiritual leader and role model and be responsible to develop and implement a comprehensive approach to student ministry including evangelism, large and small groups, worship, and discipleship including an emphasis on missional living. The Director of Journey Students will be responsible to equip and empower adult volunteers and interns to engage students with the truth and grace of Jesus Christ, meeting them where they are and helping them to take a next step, discipling them in a deepening relationship with Christ.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for student ministries: junior and senior high
  • Develop age-appropriate scope and sequence of learning
  • Celebration of milestones of discipleship of our students
  • Research, review, and implement age-appropriate curriculum for the student ministry
  • Identify, train, and develop volunteers to assist in the West County Student Ministry
  • Identify, develop, and monitor spiritual growth and spiritual gifts in students
  • Identify and empower students to lead within the ministry
  • Collaborate with local and global family ministry teams

Status: Full-Time, exempt

Hours: 40-45 hours/wk

Schedule: 5 days/week including weekend services; 2 days off per week
