Director of Journey Students - The Journey Tower Grove

Job Summary

The Director of Journey Students is responsible for oversight and leadership of the Journey Students ministry (middle and high school) at Tower Grove. The Director’s aim is to cultivate the gospel in the next generation and engage students through age-appropriate, gospel-centered worship, equipping and empowering parents as the primary spiritual influence in their student’s spiritual development. This role will be responsible for recruiting and training leaders and teachers to fulfill and lead the Journey Students weekly gathering, overseeing appropriate curriculum selection and implementation, developing strategies to grow the Journey Students program at Tower Grove, being in relationship with students, and making connections with local middle/high schools.

  • Familiarity and/or willingness to become proficient with frequently used technology (PCO, Asana, MailChimp, website/app editing tools, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Strong proven history of collaboration across diverse groups with a shared vision


  • Create and implement an overarching discipleship pathway for middle/high school students; as well as a scope and sequence for the equipping of parents
  • Develop and implement ministry vision and goals for Journey Students at Tower Grove
  • Plan and execute gatherings for Journey Students at Tower Grove
  • Research, review, and implement age-appropriate curriculum for the student ministry
  • Celebration of milestones of discipleship of our students
  • Create a team leadership structure to effectively lead Journey Students
  • Recruit, train, lead, coordinate, and care for the Journey Students teachers and leaders
  • Collaborate with the Spiritual Formation Team to ensure alignment of mission and vision
  • Work closely and collaborate with the Director of Journey Kids ministry at Tower Grove
  • Work closely and collaborate with the aligned Journey Kids and Students Directors from all Journey locations
  • Connect students, parents, and volunteers with ways to serve within the church
  • Foster ministry collaboration and communication with parents through regular meetings and contact
  • Work with Spiritual Formation Team to address any family crisis care needs
  • Provide care for middle/high school students and their parents in coordination with other pastoral staff as needed
  • Mentor and invest in a group of middle/high school students
  • Attend student events (games, plays, concerts, etc.) as established by Director of Journey Students and Pastor of Spiritual Formation
  • Develop relationships with local middle/high schools as identified by Journey Students team to move towards outreach and evangelism in the community
  • All other duties as assigned

Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Hours: 40-45 hours/wk (flexible)
Schedule: 5 days per week
